When I was getting my hair dyed,
it took me months to convince
my parents.
Even now, sometimes my parents have arguments [with me] about my hair, like "that's not appropriate for where we're going", or "y0u should just dye it back to black, to be more professional, professionals don't have their hair dyed". But I'm like, "Mom, I'm an artist. I'm not like a lawyer who's going to be in a courtroom all the time!" Right now they think dying your hair is fine for college and that I can go back to natural once I graduate, but it's like, what if I don't want to! I like my hair color!

When I came back home for Thanksgiving, my mom sent me to the salon and said "go color your hair". I thought she meant just to recolor it so I got it recolored. I let her know when I was done and she said, "what color did you dye it?" Of course I said "oh, I colored it back to the pink and purple I had." She said, "uh, you were supposed to do BLACK." I'm like, uhh, I didn't get this memo! So there was some tension when I went back to the house.
